PacWest Teams Thrive in Final Non-League Weekend

Four teams sweep the weekend during a 24-11 conference showing. Chaminade's Lillie Hinton and CUI's Sarah Guglielmana earn honors

Four PacWest teams went unbeaten last week during a tough slate of non-conference contests. Chaminade went 4-0, led by Lillie Hinton’s big offensive numbers for Player of the Week. Concordia, who went 3-0 with sweeps, was paced by the defense of Sarah Guglielmana with 1.56 blocks per set.

TEAM OF THE WEEK: Chaminade Silverswords                                                                                           
Chaminade is the Team of the Week after going 4-0 on Oahu at the Hawai`i Challenge. The Silverswords defeated St. Martin’s, Western Colorado, Seattle Pacific and Western Oregon. Chaminade had to go five sets to beat a tough St Martin’s squad and after all was said and done, improved to 6-4 on the season. Outside hitter Lillie Hinton put up double-figure kill totals in all four matches (see Player of the Week below) and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament. Lilinoe Paschoal was tabbed as the Most Outstanding Setter, averaging 9.5 assists per set while also zipping in eight service aces.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Chaminade’s Lillie Hinton, OH, Soph., 6-2, Spicewood, Tex.                               
Chaminade’s Lillie Hinton earned MVP honors of the Hawai`i Challenge, averaging 4.25 kills per set (68 total) in helping the Silverswords to a 4-0 tournament mark. The sophomore tied a career mark with 19 kills against Western Oregon with 12 digs and she put down 18 more in a 5-set match with St. Martin’s. The 2025 PacWest Freshman of the Year has had double figure kill totals in every match this year and leads the PacWest with 3.92 kills per set.

DEFENDER OF THE WEEK: Concordia’s Sarah Guglielmana, MB, Fr., 6-1, Madera, Calif.                        
Concordia’s Sarah Guglielmana was a blocking machine all weekend as the Golden Eagles went 3-0, all sweeps, against CCAA teams in the Orange County Classic. The freshman had a hand in a whopping 14 blocks in three matches, averaging 1.56 blocks/set. This included a career-high 7 blocks against Menlo on Saturday. Guglielmana has 23 blocks in 23 sets this season (1.00) ranking third in the PacWest.

PACWEST NEWS AND NOTES: In addition to Chaminade’s and Concordia’s weekend sweeps, Biola went 3-0 and did Point Loma. Hawaii Hilo went 3-1…Concordia is now 5-0 against CCAA teams this Fall…Biola swept all three of their opponents—CSU Monterey Bay, CSU Dominguez Hills and Menlo…Point Loma was at home and won nine of ten sets in sweeping Winona State, Dallas Baptist and Colorado Christian…The PacWest went 24-11 in non-conference matches last weekend…The conference has five teams with .500+ records—Concordia (6-1), Hawaii Hilo (8-3), Biola (5-2), Point Loma (4-2) and Chaminade (6-4)Point Loma freshman Ila Rose had 13 service aces in three matches, including six each against Dallas Baptist and Simon Fraser…Vanguard’s Kayla Robinson had 14 blocks (1.08 per set), including four solos…Point Loma is ranked No.13 nationally in the latest AVCA Division II poll. LOOKING AHEAD: PacWest play begins this week! On Wednesday, Westmont travels to Concordia, and Thursday shows Chaminade at Hawaii Pacific On Friday, Vanguard is at Jessup and Biola goes to Dominican.
