BYUH, Dixie Both Advance in NCAA Volleyball West Regional

NAMPA, Idaho. – On a night full of upsets, BYU-Hawaii and Dixie State both advanced with four-set wins in the NCAA Volleyball West Regional, setting up an all-PacWest semifinal matchup. BYU-Hawaii beat Central Washington, while Dixie State upended Northwest Nazarene. The Seasiders and Red Storm will play for the third time this year in the regional semifinals on Friday at 6:30 p.m. PST. Watch live stats and video on Stretch Internet.

No. 5 BYU-Hawaii bounced back from losing the opening set to take down No. 4 Central Washington in four sets. The Seasiders recorded 72 kills, led by Shih Ting Chen’s 27 that made her the program’s all-time leader with 1,789. She also had a .355 hitting percentage and 17 digs. Noel Pauga Wolman also had a double-double with 18 kills and 10 digs.
 
Dixie State 3 – Northwest Nazarene 1

No. 8 Dixie State capped off the night of upsets with the biggest one, beating No. 1 Northwest Nazarene in four sets. Dixie State’s first NCAA win in volleyball snapped the 11-match winning streak of the No. 10 team in the nation. Kendahl Weiland led the way with 18 kills on a .500 hitting percentage, followed closely by Lindsey Jones with 16 kills on a .367 hitting percentage. Shelby Sorenson had 46 assists and Alex Anderson had 18 digs.
