Dixie State Upsets BYU-Hawaii, Advances to Regional Final

NAMPA, Idaho. – The PacWest NCAA battle went the way of the Red Storm, as No. 8 Dixie State took down No. 5 BYU-Hawaii in four sets. Dixie State won its second-ever NCAA match to advance to its first regional final. The Red Storm will face No. 7 Sonoma State on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. PST (Live Stats and Video).
 
The West Region has seen upsets in all six matches so far, and is the only region to feature a 7th-seed versus 8th-seed final.
 
Dixie State used its patented balanced offensive attack, with four players recording double-digit kills. Lindsey Jones had 15 kills to lead the Storm, followed by Kendahl Weiland (13), Edithza Urias (11) and Nicole Koehler (10). Shelby Sorenson had 47 assists and 10 digs.
 
Shih Ting Chen led all players with 23 kills, ending her illustrious career with a BYU-Hawaii record 1,812. She also had 15 digs.
