Softball Weekly Awards – March 6

IRVINE, Calif. – This week’s PacWest Softball Players of the Week are Amy Eilefson (Concordia), Katelyn Harden (Dominican) and Freddie Carrillo(Academy of Art). The awards are based on games played Feb. 27-March 5.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Amy Eilefson (Concordia)
IF – Jr. – Anaheim, Calif./Canyon
 
Eilefson led Concordia to a 5-1 record last week, hitting .391 (9-23) with five extra-base hits, six runs and 12 RBI. She drove in four runs with a home run and a double in a doubleheader sweep of Arizona Christian. She was 7-for-12 in CUI’s three wins at Hawai’i Hilo, with a double, two home runs, eight RBI and four runs scored. Eilefson is tied for fourth in the PacWest with 19 RBI.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Katelyn Harden (Dominican)
RHP – Sr. – Hughson, Calif./Hughson
 
Dominican went 4-2 last week, with Harden winning all four games in the circle. She posted a 0.36 ERA with one earned run in 25.0 innings pitched, struck out 24 and walked eight. She threw a seven-inning complete game in the second game of a doubleheader with Sonoma State. She earned the win in both games of a doubleheader sweep of BYU-Hawaii, throwing 11.0 scoreless innings with six hits, 2 walks and 13 strikeouts. She closed the week with a third complete-game effort against Notre Dame de Namur, allowing her only earned run on the week and striking out seven. Harden is second in the PacWest in ERA (0.81) and opponent’s batting average (.188).
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Freddie Carrillo (Academy of Art)
IF – Fr. – San Jose, Calif./Piedmont Hills
 
Carrillo went 3-for-6 in Academy of Art’s doubleheader sweep of BYU-Hawaii. She hit an RBI double in the first game, and hit a two-run double in the second game. She also stole a base in each game. She is currently on a 10-game hitting streak, with three multi-hit efforts.
