IRVINE, Calif. -- Following a scoreless tie against Biola in the final match of the regular season, Point Loma is the 2019 PacWest Champions with a 9-0-2 record in conference play for the Sea Lions' fourth conference title in the last six years.
Point Loma entered its final game of the regular season with a share of the conference title already clinched and needed either a win or tie against Biola to win it outright. The Sea Lions did just that as
Emma Hinson recorded her fifth shutout of the year, making two saves in the tie. Point Loma has gone unbeaten in 24-consecutive PacWest matches, a run that dates back to the 2017 season.
For the second year in a row, the Sea Lions also earned the PacWest's automatic bid into the NCAA West Regional. They were the No. 5 seed last year and the No. 5-ranked team in Wednesday's West Region rankings. Point Loma will find out who its first-round opponent will be on Monday, November 18 at 3 p.m. (Pacific). The first round will be played on Thursday, November 21, and the top-2 seeds will be the host sites.
