Servin, Dugger Win Golfer Of The Week Awards

IRVINE, Calif. – This week’s PacWest Golfers of the Week are Academy of Art’s Anahi Servin, who won the Sonoma State Fall Invitational, and Luke Dugger from Holy Names after he earned a top-15 finish at the NCAA West Regional Preview in Pueblo, Colorado.

Servin continues to set records every time she competes for the Urban Knights. The senior has now won 12 individual titles in her career. This is also her 14th career PacWest Golfer of the Week award, which is given every week to the PacWest golfer with the best score in that week. With 14 such awards, she now holds the conference’s all-time record across all sports, surpassing the previous record of 13 Player of the Week awards set by Shih Teng Chen from BYU-Hawaii in volleyball.

There were several other note-worthy results for PacWest golfers at the Sonoma State Fall Invitational as four PacWest teams finished in the top-8 out of 14 schools. Regina Parra had the tournament’s best second-round score at 2-over-par 74 to move up 19 spots and tie for third place for Holy Names. Haley Wong and Raquel Prado both earned top-10 finishes for Point Loma, and Dominican was led once again by Claire Shubin, who tied for 10th place at 9-over-par 155.

WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Anahi Servin, Academy of Art
Sr. – Asunción, Paraguay
Servin entered the week trying to reach a dozen career titles, and she got the start that she needed at the Sonoma State Invitational, shooting a 1-under-par 71 to finish the first round in first place. She was two shots ahead of Dominican’s Crystal Yi, who was in second place after the first round. Tough conditions during the second round led to some high scores for the entire field, but Servin fought through to hold onto her top spot. A birdie on the 15th hole helped her finish the round with a 4-over-par 76, wrapping up the tournament at 3-over-par 147 to win the title by two strokes. The senior from Paraguay was joined in the top-20 by her teammate Tessa Greenen as she helped Academy of Art finish the event in a tie for fourth place.

MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Luke Dugger, Holy Names

Out of a field of 100 golfers getting an early look at what the NCAA West Regional might be like, Dugger made a strong showing, tying for 15th place overall. After the first round, Dugger was at 4-under-par 68, which was just two strokes behind the lead and one stroke off the pace set by his teammate Edvin Backstrom. In the second round, Dugger became the Hawks’ leader as he shot an even-par 72. He finished the tournament at 4-under-par 140 and helped Holy Names tie for 10th place out of 19 teams.
