SURPRISE, Ariz. – After leading Hawai`i Pacific as its No. 1 singles and doubles player Jordi Walder earned recognition from the PacWest coaches as the PacWest Newcomer and Player of the Year as the Sharks swept this year’s awards to lead the All-PacWest team.
 
Jakub Beran was voted as the PacWest Freshman of the Year after going undefeated during the regular season and Hendrik Bode is the PacWest Coach of the Year for the sixth time in his career.
 
Walder went 10-1 in singles at the No. 1 position this season for the Sharks. He opened the season by beating the Fall ITA West Region Champion Sebastian Herrera from Biola. He then beat Hawai`i Hilo’s Martin Soukal, who is now ranked in the top-5 in the nation. He also won twice against Azusa Pacific’s No. 1 Ryan Nuno and finished the regular season with a win over No. 14 Juan Cabrera from West Florida.
 
Beran went undefeated in singles this season with an 11-0 record, playing No. 3 and No. 4 singles for the Sharks. He only lost four sets all season and earned one win over a nationally-ranked player when he clinched Hawai`i Pacific’s win over No. 2 Barry. He also played No. 2 doubles, where he had a 12-1 record with his partner Robin Sanz.
 
Bode led Hawai`i Pacific to a 14-1 record during the regular season, which included wins over, which included nine wins over teams that were ranked in the top-20 in the nation at the time and three wins in the last week of the regular season against top-10 teams. After reaching the NCAA West Region Championships match, Bode added four players to his roster that played ahead of last season’s No. 1 Benjamin Loccisano, who went 12-1 this season, playing predominantly No. 5 singles.
 
Soukal earned his third All-PacWest recognition for singles after going 12-2 at No. 1 singles for Hawai`i Hilo. Jan Pleva played No. 2 singles for Hawai`i Pacific and was also named the first-team for singles.
 
Nuno won his third All-PacWest honors in singles for Azusa Pacific, while Biola was represented on the first team by both Herrera and Alexei Prokopchuk.
