After a slow start, Azusa Pacific made big strides with their first wins of 2025 with one-goal victories over Fresno Pacific and Dominican. The triumph over FPU was non-conference, so the Sunbirds remain unbeaten in PacWest play at 3-0 which included a 2-0 conquest of Hawaii Hilo. Concordia won two, giving up one goal in two matches.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Fresno Pacific's Zion Vaughn, F, So., 5-11, 170, Chandler, Ariz.
Fresno Pacific's Zion Vaughn scored both goals for his Sunbirds during a big 2-0 win over visiting Hawaii Hilo last Thursday. The first-year Sunbird came off the bench to score in the 27th and 63rd minutes to hand the Vulcans their first conference loss and boost FPU to 3-0 in PacWest play. Fresno Pacific had just four shots on goal in the match, three of them by Vaughn in the win. The Arizona native, who had not started a match all season, heard his name called out with the starting 11 in FPU's next match against Azusa Pacific.
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK: Concordia's Domenyk Jara, D, Grad., 5-11, Lake Forest, Calif.
Concordia's Domenyk Jara led his team from the backline to a pair of victories over Westmont (2-0) and Dominican (2-1) to help the Golden Eagles get off to a 2-0 start in PacWest play. Giving up just one goal in two matches, the Golden Eagles improved to 4-3-1 on the season. Jara also scored a goal in the Westmot match. "As the captain and leader of our back line, Domenyk anchored a clean sheet on the road against reigning conference champions Westmont and scored the game winning goal in that match," said his coach
Joshua Glover. "He followed up with another strong performance in our home win over Dominican, making key defensive plays in vital moments. His consistency, leadership, and impact on both sides of the ball were instrumental to our success this week."
TEAM OF THE WEEK: Azusa Pacific Cougars
Azusa Pacific is the Team of the Week after notching their first two wins at the most important time. The Cougars outscored Dominican 4-3 and then clipped league-leader Fresno Pacific 2-1 to get on the board with a 1-0 conference record and a 2-5-1 mark overall.
Luis Solis scored a goal in each match including the winning penalty kick against the Penguins.
Leke Ademola added a goal and two assists in the pair of wins.
