Point Loma is the Team of the Week after equal 2-1 victories over Azusa Pacific and Westmont to move in to first place with 21 points. The Sea Lions improved to 7-1 in conference play and the defending PacWest champs are 11-3-1 overall. Against the Cougars,
Emmett Layman scored the game winner at 88:55 after dribbling through the defense for about 40 yards before firing a shot into the lower righthand corner of the net. Against the Warriors in Santa Barbara, PLNU scored twice early in the second half and then held off the home team last for their third straight win.
LOG JAM AT THE TOP: With the final week of the regular season looming, it’s wild that no one has clinched a tournament spot yet. Seven teams are still alive to keep their season running beyond this weekend. Ultimately, the top four squads will make their way to Santa Barbara for the PacWest tournament on Nov. 13-15. Here is where we currently sit with one week remaining.
