Sea Lions and Vulcans Make MSOC List

Point Loma is third and Hawaii Hilo eighth in the first rank list in the NCAA Super Region 4.

INDIANAPOLIS--Pacific West Conference men's soccer leader Point Loma lists third in the first official NCAA Super Region 4 ranking, announced today by the national office.

Hawai`i Hilo checks in at No. 8 on the list of 12 teams as we head into the final weekend of the regular season. At the conclusion of the conference tournaments next week (Nov. 13-15), ten teams will qualify for the NCAA national championships from Super-Region 4. That includes the five conference tournament winners and five at-large teams from this list.

The five conferences that make up Super-Region 4 are the PacWest, the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC), the Lone Star Conference (LSC) and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).

Point Loma and Hawaii Hilo are the only teams to represent the PacWest on this list. The PacWest Conference tournament is next week in Santa Barbara, with the winner gaining the league's automatic qualifier into the NCAA tournament. If that winner is someone other than Point Loma, this first ranking suggests that the Sea Lions would still receive an at-large berth into the 10-team field.

The next NCAA ranking will come out next Wednesday, Nov. 12. After the conference tournaments are completed, the final NCAA ranking and tournament field will be announced on Monday, Nov. 17.
