Westmont Duo Win Doubles, Biola Teammates Meet in Singles Finals

PacWest players will advance to the ITA Singles and Doubles Finals in Alabama.

FRESNO, Calif.--The Westmont doubles team of JD Drake and Austin Stone are heading to Alabama for the ITA National Championships, as are Biola teammates Guilherme Gracioli and Poi Masafret who squared off in the singles finals of the ITA West Region Division II Championships.

Drake and Stone defeated Hawaii Pacific's Ethan Terry and Seth Newman in the finals, 7-5, 4-6, 10-6 at Fresno Pacific's Haak Tennis Center. Both the Warriors and Sharks will now head to Tuscaloosa, Alabama for the ITA National Championships, November 4-8.

It's the first ITA championship for Westmont since joining Division II. The Warrior duo fell behind 5-1 in the first set before rallying back to win, 7-5. They then overcame a second loss setback before winning the third set super tiebreaker. It was Stone's first tournament in over a year, after missing all of 2025-26 with an injury.

It was an all-Biola singles final when Gracioli and Masafret squred off. Masafret reached the finals after defeating HPU's Newman in the semifinals, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, while Gracioli got there with a win over Point Loma's Marcos Alogo-Piqueras, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.

Gracioli, a transfer from Montevallo (Alabama), outlasted second-year Biola standout Masafret, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 in the championship. Both will make the trip to Alabama, while Alogo-Piqueras will wait to hear word on a potential at-large berth.

The 2026 ITA Division II Singles & Doubles Championships will take place November 4-8, 2026 at the Tuscaloosa Tennis Center, a world class tennis facility.
