Vulcans Fare Well at Amer Ari Intercollegiate

Hawaii Hilo shows a -7 scorecard in the all-Division I field, led by Dylan Bercan's -7 effort.

Hawaii Hilo represented well at the Amer Ari Intercollegiate on the Big Island, tallying a team score of -7 in a large field of some of the top Division I teams in the country. Dylan Bercan also turned in a -7 scorecard for Player of the Week.

2025-26 Schedule and Results

Player of the Week: Hawaii Hilo’s Dylan Bercan, Sr., 6-3, Vancouver, British Columbia
Hawaii Hilo’s Dylan Bercan, the 2025 PacWest champion, got off to a very productive start in 2026 with a 54-hole tally of -7 at the 35th annual Amer Ari Intercollegiate. Bercan had rounds of -6, +2 and -3 to top the Vulcans, the only non-Division I team in the field. That put the Canadian tied for 48th in a field of 122, which seems modest until you consider that the NCAA 2024 National Champion Hiroshi Tai of Georgia Tech and individual runner-ups Preston Stouth of Oklahoma State and Jackson Koivun of Auburn were in the field, along with 31 of the top 100 ranked Division I players in the country. This is Bercan's third straight PacWest Player of the Week award, as he also won the final two Fall honors of 2025.

TEAM OF THE WEEK: Hawaii Hilo Vulcans
Hawaii Hilo is the Team of the Week after a strong showing at the Amer Ari Intercollegiate at the Mauna Lani Resort on the west side of the Big Island. The Vulcans were 17th of 20 teams in the all Division-I field, posting a -7 tally to defeat UC Davis, Hawaii and UT-Arlington. The Vulcans turned in 3-day scorecards of -3, +3, and -7. Just two strokes back of Dylan Bercan (-7) was Ben Crinella (-5), followed by Dysen Park (-1) and Jacob Torres (+6). Seven of the last ten NCAA Division I championship teams were in the field, including 2025 winner Oklahoma State. The tournament was won by No. 5 ranked Auburn.

PACWEST NEWS AND NOTES: Four PacWest teams played this week in Vista at the CSU San Marcos Fujikura Invitational. Dominican (+30) finished ninth of the 13 teams in the field, while Jessup (+35) was tenth, Vanguard (+36) 12th and Westmont (+50) 13th. The top conference golfer in the field was Jessup’s Jacobus Brakkee, tied for 13th at +1. Westmont’s leader was Fernando Jimenez (T-22nd, +4), Dominican’s was Jonathan Chen (T-27th, +5) and Vanguard was led by Kyle Koski (T-33rd, +6).
