Vulcans, Penguins Win Men's Golf Honors

Hawaii Hilo is the Team of the Week after a solid showing at the Pioneer Shootout, while Dominican's Daniel Marmorstein is the Player of the Week after a three-round total of -6.

Hawaii Hilo is the Team of the Week after a fifth place finish in a field of 18 teams at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout tournament hosted by CSU East Bay. The Vulcans finished with a team score of -5. Dominican’s Daniel Marmorstein was the top PacWest golfer in the field at -6 to earn Player of the Week honors.

Player of the Week: Dominican’s Daniel Marmorstein, Sr., 6-1 Agoura Hills, Calif.                                                            
Dominican’s Daniel Marmorstein finished tied for seventh in a tough field at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout at Corica Park in Alameda earlier this week. The senior put together rounds of 69, 71 and 70 to finish just four shots off the lead. The Penguin had 14 birdies over 54 holes and posted nothing higher than a bogey. The Agoura Hills native was the top PacWest golfer in the field, one shot better than Hawaii Hilo’s Dysen Park.

Hawaii Hilo is the Team of the Week after solid fifth place finish in a field of 18 at the talented Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout. The Vulcans finished 12 shots behind the winner, No. 19 ranked host CSU East Bay. Dysen Park (-5) and Dylan Bercan (-4) were the top two Vulcan golfers, followed by Ben Crinella at +2.

PACWEST NEWS AND NOTES: At the Pioneer Shootout, Dominican was the next team behind Hawaii Hilo, tied for eighth. Vanguard was tenth, Menlo 12th, Hawaii Pacific 14th and Chaminade was 18th. HPU’s top golfer was Kyle Krupp (-2), Vanguard was led by Tyler Williams (+1), Menlo was paced by Adam Tong (+2) and Chaminade’s top player was Chance Wilson (+9)…A few days earlier at Menlo’s tournament, the host Oaks won the seven-team event with a score of +38. Menlo as led by Cole Kroeker’s +6 score. Westmont was third and had the winner in Fernando Jimenez (+1). Jessup was fourth (Jerah Venkaiya +9), Chaminade fifth (Chase Wilson +7) and Hawaii Pacific was sixth (Kyle Krupp +11).

LOOKING AHEAD: The schedule is light as the countdown begins towards the 2026 PacWest Championships (April 20-22) at the Aliante Golf Club in North Las Vegas. March 23-24, Menlo will be at CSU San Bernardino’s tournament, and over those same dates Hawaii Hilo will be at the University of Oregon. The Vulcans will follow that up with the Stanford Invitational, March 26-28.
