Menlo completed its first softball sweep joining the conference, taking out Vanguard in four games for Team of the Week. Concordia also won four, led by the offense of Morgan Kneubuhler. Hawaii Hilo’s Janessa Santos went 4-0 in the pitching circle for Pitcher of the Week.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Concordia’s Morgan Kneubuhler, C, Jr., 5-10, Chino Hills, Calif.
Concordia’s Morgan Kneubuhler earns her second Player of the Week award this season after a sizzling four games at the plate. The junior catcher went 10-for-14 (.714) in four wins over Hawaii Pacific, driving home ten runs in the process. The Mt. SAC transfer had seven of those RBI and two home runs in the final two games of the series. She also scored five times. Kneubuhler is hitting .440 in her first season as a Golden Eagle with 42 RBI in 30 games.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Hawaii Hilo’s Janessa Santos, RHP, Soph., 5-9, Moreno Valley, Calif.
Hawaii Hilo’s Janessa Santos won four games in the pitcher’s circle last week during a workhorse 4-0 week. The Vulcans played eight games (5-3) against Biola and Azusa Pacific and the redshirt sophomore won four of them to keep UHH in playoff contention. Santos pitched a total of 31 innings, allowing just 21 hits and six runs for an ERA of 1.35. The second-year Vulcan went the distance in all four wins, including a 10-inning outing during a 2-1 victory over Biola. She struck out 27 batters.
TEAM OF THE WEEK: The PacWest Team of the Week is the
Menlo Oaks. Menlo got the brooms out for the first time since joining the PacWest with a four-game sweep of Vanguard. The Oaks won the home series by the scores of 5-4, 8-0, 6-5 and 8-3 to more than double their win totals for the season and in the PacWest (7-22 and 5-10).
Gabrielle Rodriguez was the hitting star for the series, going 7-for-13 with four doubles, a home run and five RBI.
Alysia Elizarrey picked up two of the pitching wins, throwing complete games and allowing just two runs over the 14 innings pitched. The Oaks snapped a 9-game losing streak with the wins under first-year head coach
Mckinsey Thorpe (former CUI standout).
THIS WEEK IN THE PACWEST: Play continues today (Monday) with Hawaii Pacific at Biola. That series resumes on Tuesday, along with Hawaii Hilo at Concordia and Chaminade at Azusa Pacific. Dominican hosts Cal Poly Humboldt on Wednesday, and weekend series include Jessup at Menlo, Hilo at Vanguard, Chaminade at Concordia, Hawaii Pacific at Azusa Pacific and Menlo at Dominican. PACWEST NEWS AND NOTES: Concordia swept Hawaii Pacific in four games with two of those ending games ending via mercy rule. The Golden Eagles outscored the Sharks 30-5.

Vanguard allowed just two hits in seven innings against Jessup, throwing the shutout without a walk and she struck out six…The unbalanced schedule makes it a little more difficult to chart the standings, but six teams have .500 or better records in a battle for the top four spots.
