PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Biola’s Alejandro Flores Monteverde, Jr., 5-9, Mexicali, Mexico
Alejandro Flores Monteverde played a key role again in two Biola victories last week. One week after a pair of comeback three-set win for the Eagle on court two, this time the Mexicali native won two more doubles matches and two singles victories for the Eagles against Azusa Pacific and Westmont. In the big win over the Cougars, he teamed with Angel Guerrero Melgar for a 6-4 win over Soeren Grandke and Mathys Pinoit, and then won on court two in singles against David Brownlee, 7-6 (7-2), 6-2. Against the Warriors, the duo rolled to a 6-1 victory and then Flores won on singles court three, 6-3, 6-2. The junior is now 5-0 on the season in singles and 5-0 in doubles.

TEAM OF THE WEEK: Biola Eagles
Biola is unbeaten at 7-0 after two more large early season wins. The Eagles captured a home 4-3 upset of Azusa Pacific and took down Westmont, 5-2. Against the Cougars, Biola lost the doubles point so they had an uphill battle to get back and they began that trek immediately with straight sets wins on court six (Thiago Canessa), court three (Adam Large) and court two (Alejandro Flores Monteverde) to take a 3-1 lead. After a pair of three-set losses, Juan Vallejo clinched the Eagle win with a gutsy win on court four, 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-0). It was just the second victory all-time for Biola against the Cougars in 31 tries. On the road at Westmont, BU won the doubles point and took four singles matches to roll in straight sets.
