Kim, Servin Each Tally Ninth PacWest Golfer Of The Week Awards

IRVINE, Calif. – PacWest golf is now in full swing after being the first sport in the conference to be competed since the hiatus started by COVID-19. The first intercollegiate athletics event in the PacWest was held on November 9 when Hawai`i Pacific and Chaminade men’s golf faced each other in a dual.
 
This week, five of the PacWest schools competed in the Bay Area Invitational, while the three Hawai`i schools gathered in Aiea, Hawaii for the Pearl Harbor Collegiate Classic that included the University of Hawai`i.
 
Academy of Art won the men’s tournament at the Bay Area Invitational, while Point Loma took home first place on the women’s side. On the islands, Hawai`i Hilo led all PacWest teams on the men’s side with a second-place finish, while Hawai`i Pacific took second place for the women.
 
Weekly awards for the week of Feb. 17-23

WOMEN’S CO-GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Anahi Servin, Academy of Art
Jr. – Asuncion, Paraguay /Architecture
The two-time defending PacWest Individual Champion started her 2021 season with another individual title, shooting a 2-under-par 142 at the Bay Area Invitational to finish in a tie for first place. Servin helped the Urban Knights finish in fourth place as a team as she shot an impressive 3-under-par 69 in the second round, which was tied for the best round of the entire tournament.
 
WOMEN’S CO-GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Alli Kim, Point Loma
Sr. – Murrieta, Calif./Applied Health Science
Kim earned her ninth PacWest Golfer of the Week honor after tying for first place individually at the Bay Area Invitational as she led the Sea Lions to the team title as well. In the first round, Kim was one stoke above par at 73, which put her in a tie for third place. In the second round, she finished with a 3-under-par 69 to move into a tie for first place.
 
MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Dustin Franko, Hawai`i Hilo
Jr. – Delta, British Columbia, Canada/Business
Franko finished in second place at the Pearl Harbor Collegiate Classic leading all NCAA Division II golfers at the event with a score of 4-under-par 140. Franko had the best second round of any golfer at the tournament, besting the eventual champion by five strokes as he shot a 5-unde-par 67 in the second round to finish just one stroke behind first place. His second round performance boosted Hawai`i Hilo into its second-place finish in the first event of the season for the Vulcans.
