Westmont increased its lead in the PacWest baseball standings with a trio of wins at Hilo. Menlo's Justin Flannery went an absure 10-for-14 with 10 RBI, and Jessup's Diego Sanchez got the win in a complete game outing against CUI, without an earned run on his ledger.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Menlo's Justin Flannery, OF, Sr., 5-10, 190, R/R, Murrieta, Calif.
Menlo's Justin Flannery smacked the ball at a .714 clip during the Oaks' four-game series with Biola. The senior outfielder went 10-for-14, scored 10 times, drove in 10 runs and poked four home runs. Flannery had two home runs in the second game of the series and homered in three of the four contests. He had multiple hits in each games, including three apiece in the final doubleheader of the slate. Flannery had just two home runs on the season prior to this outburst, and he boosted his season average from .282 to .323.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Jessup's Diego Chavez, RHP, Jr., 6-1, 195, R/R, Oxnard, Calif.
Jessup's Diego Chavez had his best outing of the season in going seven complete innings during a 2-1 win over Concordia. The one run Chavez gave up was unearned as he worked his way through just four Golden Eagle hits and one walk. He fanned three and finished the contest on an efficient 62 pitches to improve to 5-3 on the year. The seven innings was a season high for Chavez, who redshirted last season for the Warriors after transferring from Oklahoma Baptist.
TEAMS OF THE WEEK: The PacWest Team of the Week is the
Westmont Warriors. The Warriors went 3-0 on the Big Island against Hawai`i Hilo to increase their PacWest lead to 3.5 games, improving to 31-9 overall and to 26-7 in the PacWest. The Warriors topped the Vulcans by the scores of 6-4, 7-1, and 8-6. In the fourth game of the series, Westmont was leading 5-0 before the game was washed out (it will not be made up). On the mound,
Zach Yates closed out two of the wins for his 10th and 11th saves of the year and he fanned three. He retired 12 consecutive batters, pushing his current streak to 19 straight hitters that he has shut down.
Ryan Humphreys picked up one of the wins on the hill with six innings of shutout work, allowing just three hits while fanning eight on an even 100 pitches.
Bryce McFeely led the hit parade for the No. 1 regionally ranked Warriors with a 5-for-11 series, hitting a home run and driving in four.

THIS WEEK IN THE PACWEST: The week kicks off today with the completion of a big series on Oahu betweem Hawai`i Pacific and Point Loma. Thursday-Friday series feature Azusa Pacific at Jessup and Vanguard at Hawai`i Pacific. Heading into the weekend, Point Loma will play four at Chaminade, Westmont is at Menlo and Fresno Pacific travels to Biola.
THE ROAD TO FRESNO: We are still a good four weeks+ away from the 2025 Pacific West Conference Championships, so the road to Fresno's Dan Martin Stadium is still a little foggy but worth taking a look at.
Westmont currently sits in the driver's seat with a 26-7 mark, 3.5 games ahead of
Hawai`i Pacific (23-11).
Point Loma is third (20-10), followed by
Jessup (23-11),
Vanguard (21-5),
Azusa Pacific (18-16),
Biola (15-17),
Concordia (16-20),
Chaminade (15-21),
Fresno Pacific (14-22),

Menlo (5-27). With Jessup and Vanguard not yet eligible for postseason play, that currently puts Azusa Pacific in the fourth spot for the four-team field if the season ended today (it doesn't).
PACWEST NEWS AND NOTES: Hawaii Pacific won the first two games of a huge series with
Point Loma on Saturday, capturing 12-11 and 11-3 wins.
Kan Taguchi had three hits (including a HR) in the opener and drove in four runs and
Tyler Arnold continued his hot pace with three hits in the nightcap, including a home run and four RBI...
Point Loma took two midweek games against Concordia with
Luke Reece swinging a red hot bat. Reece hit two home runs in one of the games against the Golden Eagles, driving in a career-high seven runs...
Azusa Pacific took three of four games from Fresno Pacific to improve to 18-16 in conference play.
