Fresno Pacific ran off four straight at home against Hawaii Hilo, with Titus Wheelock’s bat leading to a lot of damage. Westmont swept three from Chaminade, with Joey Rico shutting down the Silverswords for Pitcher of the Week.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Fresno Pacific’s Titus Wheelock, 1B, Jr., 6-1, 270, Riverbank, Calif.
Fresno Pacific’s Titus Wheelock hit four home runs and drove home 13 Sunbirds during a sweep of Hawaii Hilo and a non-conference loss to Division I Nevada. The junior first baseman went 8-for-16, with five of his eight hits going for extra bases. Wheelock, who had just two home runs coming into the week, started his long ball fest against Nevada, going 3-for-4 with a homer in that loss. He also hit two in one game against the Vulcans and had six RBI. The Modesto CC transfer is now hitting .309 with six home runs and 27 RBI.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Westmont’s Joey Rico, P/OF, Jr., L/R, 6-0, 210, Visalia, Calif.
Westmont’s Joey Rico picked up one of the three Warrior victories at Chaminade, holding the Silverswords to just three hits in a six-inning shutout performance. The right-hander improved to 3-1 on the season, allowing just one walk while fanning seven batters. He left the game after a tidy 79 pitches in the eventual 3-0 Westmont win. Rico has now given up just four runs in his last four starts and has an ERA of 2.40.
TEAM OF THE WEEK: The PacWest Team of the Week is the
Fresno Pacific Sunbirds. The Sunbirds swept Hawaii Hilo at home with 13-2, 4-3, 10-5 and 5-3 victories to improve to 15-15 overall and 10-8 in the PacWest.
Titus Wheelock was a long ball machine (see above), and the Sunbirds had two excellent pitching outings from
Zach Simon and
Drew Petty. Simon fanned 11 batters, the second highest total in the PacWest this season and gave up just two runs in six innings of work. Petty pitched seven complete game innings and scattered five hits and gave up just two runs. The Sunbirds got back on track with the sweep, after falling earlier in the week to Nevada and losing the week before to conference leader Point Loma.

Point Loma’s 20-game win streak came to a close against
Azusa Pacific in the first game of their four-game slate, 7-6 in San Diego. The Sea Lions bounced back with wins in the next three games of the series to move to 23-1 in conference play and 27-4 overall.

Concordia won thee of four against Vanguard, with
Wyatt Madison doing damage at the plate and mound. Madison picked up the win with six innings of one-run work, fanning seven and he also hit three home runs on the week with 10 RBI…
Biola and
